Artist Mary Ann Scott began painting in her home in northern Italy in 2006 for the Distance Learning Diploma Course run by the Society of Botanical Artists. She was an enthusiastic, albeit amateur, painter and regularly sent her work to Margaret Stevens, President of the Society of Botanical Artists. Through her outstanding sketchbooks and paintings collected in Botanical Sketchbook, you can see first-hand how she developed her skills to become a supremely accomplished botanical artist.

Including first-hand accounts of the joys and challenges Mary Ann faced as she progressed through the course, Botanical Sketchbook contains work from every assignment she undertook, from her first faltering attempts at drawing a tulip to the triumphant paintings she made for her diploma portfolio. Sure to inspire artists of all skill levels, Botanical Sketchbook is beautifully illustrated with exquisite examples of the artist's work, including delicate floral compositions, ripe and juicy fruits and vegetables, and intricate botanical studies.

Packed with practical advice on all aspects of botanical painting in watercolor, this remarkable book is a guide to anyone wanting to pick up a paintbrush and embark on life as a botanical artist.
