In ancient art and symbolism, the spiral is indicative of time passing, the yearly cycle of the seasons or the cycles of the moon, and phases of women's lives. The pattern begins with the chambers outlined in the clasp's fossilized ammonites, through the asymmetrical spiral of the two beaded strands, to the pressed-glass shell pendant.
