Inspired by this season's exaggerated jewelry, Robyn Chachula created colorful thread motifs and crafted them into earrings and an asymmetrical necklace prefect for a stroll along an island beach. Transport yourself, if only in your mind, with these lightweight fashion statements, which you can whip up in an evening.

Finished Size: Necklace: about 36" long with largest motif 21⁄2" in diameter; Earrings: 21⁄2" tall and 21⁄4" wide.
Yarn: Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet Thread size 10 (100% mercerized cotton, 350 yd [320 m]): #486 navy (MC), #450 aqua (CC1), #421 goldenrod (CC2), and #622 kelly green (CC3), 1 ball each. Thread distributed by Coats & Clark.
Yarn Weight: #0 - Lace
Gauge:
Large necklace motif = about 21⁄2" in diameter; small necklace motif = about 1" in diameter.
Hook: Size 1.5 mm steel hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: Stitch marker (m); small amount of polyfil; sewing needle for weaving in ends; rustproof pins; fabric stiffener; 7 mm jump rings (19 for necklace, 2 for earrings); six 3⁄4" eye pins; one 15 mm lobster clasp; 12" of fashion chain; 2 earring hooks; 2 small needle-nose pliers.
