Of the varied ways to achieve a plaid effect in crochet, this technique is the designer's favorite: Contrasting yarn is crocheted into chains and attached to the main rug body stitch by stitch. Resilient wool yarn makes the rug substantial and durable; the generous size and simple plaid make it perfect for any room in the house.

Yarn: Halcyon Yarn Rug Wool (100% wool; 65 yds [59 m]/4 oz [113 g]; CYCA-standard yarn weight system-5): #188 brown (A), 9 skeins; #130 ivory (B) and #123 blue (C), 4 skeins each.
