Waves of stitches in a traditional chevron pattern give a modern look to this fresh classic. The yarn drapes beautifully and the ribbon tie accentuates all the right curves. Worked in jazzy stripes, the increases are cleverly worked into the zigs and zags.
Finished Size: 33 (36 1/2, 40)" (84 [92.5, 101.5] cm) circumference at hips after seaming. Skirt shown measures 36 1/2" (92.5 cm).
Yarn: Dale of Norway Baby Ull (100% superwash merino; 192 yd [175m]/1 3/4 oz [50 g]): #0083 charcoal (A), 4 (4, 5) balls; #2232 tan (B), 5 (5, 6) balls.
Yarn weight: #1 - Super Fine
Gauge: 21 sts and 12 rows = 4" (10 cm) in dc. Two 18-st chevrons (at the hem) = 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) and 10 chevron rows = 4" (10 cm).
Needles: Hooks: Size E/4 (3.5 mm). Adjust hook size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Ten 5/8" (15-mm) wood buttons; 2 yd (1.8 m) 1/4" (6-mm) wide black velvet ribbon; 1 yd (.9 m) 1/4" (6-mm) wide black elastic; tapestry needle; sewing needle and black sewing thread.
