Traditional Aran patterns and plenty of bobbles create a lively play of pattern in a change-of-the-season V-neck cardigan. A smooth unvariegated yarn in a blend of Suri alpaca and merino shows off the twists and turns in the stitchwork and allows for comfort next to the skin. The cropped length, short sleeves, and a bright color make this garment a worthy descendant of classic sweater style.
Finished Size: 36 (38, 40 1/2, 45 1/2)" (91.5 [96.5, 103, 115.5] cm) bust circumference. Sweater shown measures 36" (91.5 cm).
Yarn: Plymouth Suri Merino (55% alpaca, 45% merino; 109 yd [100 m]/50 g): #5297 French blue, 8 (9, 9, 10) balls.
Yarn weight: #4 - Medium
Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows = 4" (10 cm) in k2, p2 rib using larger needles, slightly stretched; 30 sts of Diamond chart measure 5" (12.5 cm) wide using larger needles; 32 sts of Rope Cable chart measure 5 1/2" (14 cm) wide using larger needles.
Needles: Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
