I have had three weddings to attend and I did an assembly line for 3 sets of "Strings attached potholders and trivets" My adult daughters are learning to sew and have swiped this book from me often enough that I bought each of them a copy. My teenage son has discovered sewing as well, and he is making the laptop computer messenger bag with recycled material and some custom features. The directions are very clear and that has helped my beginers learn skills and experiment while they are learning. I love the variety and the color. The whole book encourages the artistry of sewing, combined with practical items to sew and use. When will volume 2 be out? :)
Love it--my one Christmas prompt indulgence :)

In order to keep my quilting studio managable--it has undergone brutal weeding of books and magazines--only keeping what I'm sure I'll use. :) And I did not renew any of my quilting subscriptions this year--but I ordered this magazine because I couldn't resist the abundance of practical (ipod covers, Kindle covers, laptop covers, pet accessories) modern gifts featured in it. :) I've just purchased the new Janome Horizon and lots of these smaller projects will let me practice my quilting on them before tackling larger projects. And I think my grown young adult kids and nieces and nephews will really enjoy some of these homemade gifts as they coincide with many of their interests. So far, I've only been browsing through the magazine and looking at the color pix and a few of the materials and directions boxes--and it looks like many of these projects are very do able and will work well with my batik stash scraps.
Yes--I do think this one issue magazine was very expensive (with postage it was nearly $30.00) and I could have had a year's subscription with many publications for that price. I really think that at that price--it should have been a book rather than a magazine. However, it really has awesome and timely projects--and I anticipate I will have quite a bit of fun making many of the projects. :)
All in all--I am excited about it and give thanks to everyone who contributed to this issue--the designs are awesome--and I'm thankful that I can still afford to buy it. :) *** Interweave Response *** At 196 pages, 101 Patchwork is more the size of a book than a magazine. Thank you for your comments and we hope you enjoy this special issue.
This book is SOOOOO worth the price

I love this book. I have already made 3 projects from this book. Rated E for Everyone!!! Seriously one of the best magazines I have bought in a really long time!!!!
I hope this magazine (and future editions) will be available in .pdf download! Getting the magazine in e-format makes it easy to store, and there are no shipping charges as with the print version!
