Easy and highly addictive, machine needle felting is an incredibly fun way to create your own unique fabrics for art quilts, wearable art, and home decor. In this class you'll discover how to combine machine needle felting with fabric collage, paint, free-motion embroidery, and embellishment. We'll practice our needle-felting skills by creating an abstract piece using a variety of fabrics and mixed media, and then transform a photograph of a landscape into a colorful and embellished needle-felted piece.
Materials list:- A needle felting machine (I use a Babylock® Embellisher.)
- Sheets of craft felt (I like the 9" x 12" sheets of craft felt you find at major craft store chains.)
- Stiletto
- Fabric scissors
- Fabric scraps (cottons, velvets, laces, etc.)
- Bits of silk and/or wool roving (I prefer the Strata Packs by Oliver Twists.)
- Hand-dyed scrim or cheesecloth
- Fusible web
- Lutradur®
- Stamp with a bold floral design (or other design of choice)
- Fabric paint
- Foam brush
- Marking pen
