Make a small fiber book from one piece of fabric using a variety of surface design techniques and mixed media materials. Each of the eight "pages" of the completed book is the size of an artist trading card (ATC) and can be created to reflect a specific theme or topic.
Supplies:
- Background fabric, 1/4 yd. (long or fat quarter)
- Fusible web, 1/4 yd. (I use WonderUnder®.)
- An assortment of fabric scraps in colors to coordinate and contrast with your background
- An assortment of papers, printed and solid
- Golden® soft gel medium, matte or semi-gloss
- Caran d'Ache® Neocolor II water-soluble wax pastels
- Ranger Distress Ink™ stamp pads
- Pigment ink stamp pads
- Darice® Foamies™ "Marshmallows"
- X-act® knife and cutting surface
- Small pieces of thin acrylic to use as a base for foam stamps
- Adhesive-backed foam
- Scissors, fabric and paper
- Sewing machine with walking foot and darning foot
- Iron and ironing board
- Transparencies for inkjet printers
- Contrasting thread
- Metallic acrylic paint (like Jacquard® Lumiere®.)
- Small paintbrushes
- Pencil
- Small container to hold water
- Acid-free glue stick
- Low-tack masking tape
- Burnisher or an old spoon
