Fabrics are 44–45" (112–114.5 cm) wide unless otherwise noted.

— one fat quarter of colorful cotton print for feature letter patch (fabric 1; shown: bermuda Stripe by anne Kelle; if print is directional, you’ll need 1/2 yd [46 cm])

—1/2 yd (46 cm) of another cotton print for feature letter patch sashing (fabric 2; recommended: print on white or cream; shown: bermuda owls by anne Kelle; if print is directional, you’ll need 3/4 yd [68.5 cm])

—1 yd (91.5 cm) of solid cotton for feature letter and alphabet blocks (fabric 3; recommended: white or cream; shown: Kona cotton in bone by robert Kaufman)

— 3/4 yd (68.5 cm) each of 3 coordinating solid and/or print cottons for alphabet blocks (group 4; shown: Kona cotton in bahama blue and olive, Freebird ovals by Momo)

— 1/2 yd (46 cm) each of 3 coordinating solids for alphabet blocks (group 5; shown: Kona cotton in Paprika, Earth, and amber)

— One fat quarter each of 8 different coordinating prints for applique letters (group 6; recommended: small-scale tonal prints)

— 2 yd (1.8 m) of 108" (274.5 cm) wide fabric for quilt backing, such as flannel or quilter’s cotton, or 5 1/2 yd (5 m) of 45" (114.5 cm) wide fabric
