"You can never have enough beads. And despite having my own bead cabinet at home, I'm still in search of more. The problem is I keep coming home from bead buying binges with the same favorite colors over and over again! So my biggest goal this year is to create an inventory list to take with me as I search out new and wonderful colors."

"My big goal for 2014 is to do more work combining bead embroidery with sculptural and shaped bead-weaving. I had such a great time experimenting with mixing these two very different types of beadwork that I want to see where else it will lead me! These kinds of pieces are pretty labor-intensive, so it’s going to be a challenge for me just to fit them in to my schedule."

"When I began my beading journey as a new Beadwork staffer about a year ago, my Beadwork colleagues advised me to start with peyote stitch. I followed their sage advice when I began my first beadstitching project in January 2013, and although I’ve experimented with herringbone and brick stitches, I have thus far continued to fall comfortably back to peyote stitch because working it is calming and meditative for me. So my New Year’s resolution has got to be try to a new stitch, or at least a variation on peyote stitch. I might try tubular peyote stitch next because my mom has a wonderful Native American–inspired tubular peyote necklace that she bought in the nineties, and we would both love it if I could make a similar one in different patterns/colors."

"Back in 2008, Beadwork published an article about Christi Anderson and her stunning birdhouses created with precious metal clay. And ever since laying hands on that article nearly six years ago, I’ve been completely smitten! My goal for 2014 is to actually carve out some time to learn how to work with PMC—I’ve signed up for an online course and have asked Santa to fill my stocking with all of the necessaries for the course! I can’t wait!"
