As the evenings turn cool and we move our social activities back indoors, why not invite your friends over and impress them not just with your cheese platters but with clever mixed-media table decorations you made yourself? Or as Linda Blinn and Jennifer Francis Bitto put it, “Serve up mixed-media art right alongside mixed salads, a mixed buffet, and mixed drinks.” To learn more about how you can dazzle your friends and be the talk of the neighborhood, see page 30 for Linda and Jennifer’s techniques for combining vintage crystals, transparencies, and other media to make your table sparkle.

Lastly, for many of us our home is not complete without the pitter-patter of canine feet prancing across the kitchen tile or the luxurious weight of a cat curled in our lap. Animal crusader and mixed-media artist Bernie Berlin and her husband are building a no-kill shelter on their property in the south where Bernie can rehabilitate abandoned animals and find them loving homes. Manyexceptional artists have banded together to auction their art on eBay and donatefunds to help Bernie build this shelter. To learn more about Bernie’s ArtistsUnleashed auction and to read her story, see page 46.Until next time, yours in creativity,
