A Word From the Author:

In this book, I present techniques for you to use in your journal practice. All of the techniques can be used on paper, and most can be used on cloth as well. There are techniques that have direct correlations. Frisket paper (a low-tack, adhesive stencil plastic), for example, is a mask that when used on paper yields with a shiny side that irons easily to cloth. As you progress through the pages of this book, you are encouraged to layer, build and use multiple techniques on a single page, giving your ideas depth, dimension and maturity. Wherever possible, we will make connections between the similarities and differences between paper and cloth – these are called Jumping-Off Points.

There are project ideas scattered throughout the book as well. I present these tchniques and ideas in the hopes of pushing the horizon of possibility farther than you might imagine. Always remember that these are techniques, not goals in and of themselves.

What Other Artist's Are Saying

Melanie has an easy conversational tone that makes the book an enjoyable and engaging read and the entire book is illustrated with clear, bright, beautiful photographs of step by step directions, examples and artwork. This book is sure to become the one "must have" book for art journalers so whether you're a beginning or experienced art journaler I highly recommend adding this book to you personal library! - Sue Bleiweiss
