This project has all the ingredients of a quick success story: soft chunky yarn in a colorful flecked tweed, a pair of big needles, and rows of straightforward stockinette stitch worked without any armhole or neck shaping. Add a warm and comfy funnel neck, a rugged fringed edging, and the fun of felting your assembled sweater, and in no time flat, you'll be slipping on a winter winner.
Finished Size: 40 (44, 48, 52)" (101.5 [112, 122, 132] cm) bust/chest circumference, after felting. Pullover shown measures 40" (101.5 cm).
Yarn: Lion Brand Landscapes (50% wool, 50% acrylic; 55 yd [50 m]/50 g): #540-275 autumn trails, 17 (19, 22, 25) balls.
Yarn weight: #6 - Super Bulky
Gauge: 9 sts and 13 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st before felting; about 11 sts and 23 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st after felting.
Needles: Body and sleeves—Size 15 (10 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle; removable stitch markers or safety pins; size N (10-mm) crochet hook for attaching fringe.
