I made these for my mom last Christmas. They were actually the first mug cozies I'd ever seen (several years ago when this issue came out) and it dawned on me that they were perfect for my mom. My family drinks a lot of hot bereages, but her mugs get molten hot and her living room currently does not really have end tables, so you have to hold on to your mug. The pattern was clear and concise, and lends itself to easy modification. I made five of them for her with one skein of yarn, and they were all different. The finished piece is very forgiving. I drew a rough sketch of her mug with measurements while I was visiting once and was able to make cozies that fit well enough. If you're trying to make them for someone and you don't know what kind of mugs they might have, they do stretch a lot. Overall, they were incredibly quick to knit and are a really sweet touch to a pretty traditional mug "gift basket" at Christmas time, or as a set for your sweet mother. :)
