Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn's 2 hour DVD truly brings the various techniques to life as they guide you through numerous processes in their own studios. From expressive and freeform painting to embellishing and foiling, the artists create remarkably unique works from seemingly traditional forms of hand stitching. One of the most intriguing techniques is creating your own cloth from hand stitching onto a water-soluble base. Beaney and Littlejohn are clearly comfortable in front of the camera, and move at just the right pace to keep things interesting, informative, and easy to follow. With both this book and DVD as your guide, their innovative techniques will soon be second nature. Above all, Beaney and Littlejohn show us the power of observation and the possibilities of creatively transforming our surroundings into powerful works of art.

FIlled with information to inspire you! Review by Elizabeth Ingraham

If you are a fan of Jan Beaney's beautiful books and her elegant and expressive aesthetic, you will love this DVD. If you want more information on an incredible variety of surface design techniques as grounds for stitching--from painting to discharging to foiling to building fabric from threads sandwiched between soluble film--you'll love this DVD. The instruction is very detailed--like having a personal workshop with Jan Beaney and her partner Jean Littlejohn, who are expert in a wide variety of techniques. Of particular note is how both artists show the process of observation from nature to photograph to journal drawing to fabric translation. I'm so glad I took a risk and bought this DVD.
