knit the perfect buttonhole

Your knitwear deserves a perfect buttonhole.

Many beautiful cardigans are ruined by unsightly buttonholes that sag or, even worse, snag on their buttons. In one of her proudest knitting discoveries, knitwear designer Anna Zilboorg developed a buttonhole that does not stretch, sag, or even show when not in use.

In this Interweave Knits Workshop Video Short, Anna demonstrates the technique step by step.

marvelous technique Review by Rebecca

This buttonhole technique is the best for perfectly sized, discreet handknit buttonholes in a band . As an experienced knitter I have worked many, many different styles and techniques looking for a buttonhole that will not stretch out, become sloppy with use, or dominate a band. This is it.

This tutorial is complete ripoff Review by Steven

I am irate. This video tutorial is some 30 minutes long. Zilboorg spends far less than 5 minutes constructing the actual buttonhole by grafting with an embroidery needle. She moves lickety split as if "O, it's just so simple. Do this. Do that. Voila!" Slam bam and it's over. No, thank you, ma'am. O, o, o, it only works if your making buttonholes in a buttonhole band. I purchased thinking I'd learn the "perfect buttonhole" for a men's jacket. What a crock! She could have had the common courtesy to go slowly, provide close-ups, and repeat and repeat. Instead she jabbers on smugly about how perfect her buttonhole is and spends almost all the knitting time making a band, not a buttonhole. I repeat: IT. IS. A. CROCK. DO! NOT! PURCHASE!

excellent Review by Josette

Easy to understand and easy to follow. Watched it through once, then watched as I placed the button holes into my corrugated rib band. Perfect, they are amazing and perfectly disappear in to my garment, just like Anna stated. Would very much recommend this video.
