"I’m pretty lucky that in my job I get to dabble in just about every jewelry-making technique out there. It’s squeezing in time that is a challenge for me. There are two techniques I haven’t gotten around to working with to my satisfaction. So for 2014, I’m hoping to be able to really master epoxy resin and epoxy clay. Epoxy clay has been used for really showcasing crystals. But I have some other things I’d like to try to embed in it that I’m hoping will be really cool. I let you know how it turns out!"

"I've gotten some new power tools recently, so I think 2014 is finally going to be the year I learn to cut stones! I'm very excited to try, because seeing inside a rock for the first time ever has always had huge appeal for me. I also want to spend more time making and less time hoarding supplies I love, ha!"

"It’s amazing that it’s 2014. As the President of Wubbers University, I had my world opened up to so many new techniques this past year as I’ve met so many artists who work with all different mediums.  But I must say, with my limited studio time, my goal is to do two very special projects. I want to finally do a modern concho belt using the petroglyph designs that are in my archaeology field journals. This has been a project I have planned for several years, but am now hoping to finish it. Another project, very dear to my heart, is a necklace, my Homage to the Snow Queen, and I’m thrilled to be working with glass artist, Ginny Hampton, on the design of glass beads to go with my shimmery silver designs.  These are 2 huge undertakings, so I hope I can finally start (and complete) them. Now that I’ve made this public, I’d better get started on them!"

"My goals for the new year? I've spent more than 25 years working in the jewelry arts, but as an editor, not a maker, and my 2014 jewelry making goals are your goals. I want to help you learn techniques, master tools, and develop and execute your own designs – in magazine articles, video workshops and shorts, online courses, and any other medium that suits you. A few of my plans are to bring you the expertise of Joe Korth in creating jewelry with keum boo, that fabulous, high-contrast, high-texture look of gold foil on silver; to show you how the calm and focused approach of Michael David Sturlin can give you the confidence and ability to saw out any shape in metal you could want and enjoy doing it and to offer you a few examples and countless approaches toward pattern creation and designing jewelry made with the layered metals of mokumé gané."

"For 2014, I really want to try creating jewelry with metal clay. We've published so many fascinating (and beautiful!) metal clay projects in Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist -- and we even published a special issue all about metal clay -- that I finally must try it! Since I'm a rockhound and a gemstone fan, I think that metal clay would serve as the perfect medium for displaying my favorite stones."
