Spacer 25x25 pixels

Brioche knitting, an unusual variation on standard knitting, creates a double-sided fabric that expands the possibilities of knitting structure, intricate textures, reversible fabrics, and even unique color combinations.

With Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark as your guide, you’ll learn:

  • How to get started with step-by-step instructions for mastering the brioche knit and the brioche purl, creating two enmeshed sides of brioche fabric.
  • One- and two-color brioche techniques for thick, lofty fabric that can easily be manipulated to create distinctive vertical striped colorwork.
  • Knitting techniques on how to shape your brioche projects, fix (and avoid) making mistakes, and tips on choosing colors and yarns to best show off your stitches.

Plus, Brioche Knitting Basics with Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark includes a free pattern download of the Two-Color Brioche Hat to practice your skills.

While not a quick-and-easy technique, brioche knitting offers creative possibilities that make its challenges rewarding. You’ll find inspiration with the possibilities the brioche techniques can offer.

Excellent Overview of Basic Brioche Techniques Review by Erica

I tried learning Brioche knitting from another teacher, but found, as a Continental knitter, I couldn't figure it out from that teacher's instructions. Mercedes is a Continental knitter, who is also quite competent at instructing for English knitters. Her instruction was clear and detailed, with tons of good tips for knitting in general, and brioche in particular. She clearly loves Brioche knitting and conveys her enthusiasm in this video. Her voice could use additional modulation, as it tended to make me sleepy after a while, but the value for the money is undeniable. Brioche here I come!

Excellent Review by Anderea Vaughan

I always wanted this, when they had the sale, I took advantage, glad I did. Mercedes is excellent in going over the basic to the complex and she is a Continental knitter to, which makes me happy.. Other than that she knows her stuff when working with this technique and video shows it very clearly. I was impressed as to some interweave videos I have brought in the past did not go into the technique in depth, but she does and she is clear as to her hands and the swatches. I totally recommend this even just to get the basic technique which is the 1 color brioche as I always wanted to learn. I am totally happy I brought this.
