A striking single-color Fair Isle border is the perfect foil for the pared-down styling of this V-neck pullover. Knitted in the round with the right side always facing, the border is a great way to get acquainted with two-color knitting. And once you've completed the color work, you're home free-the rest of the sweater couldn't be simpler to knit. The edges are all worked in a few rows of garter stitch and the neckband, picked up and worked back and forth, overlaps at the point of the V-neckline. The heathery yarn, a combination of wool and alpaca, is soft, light-weight, and comfortable to wear.
Finished Size: 41 3/4 (44 1/2, 48, 51 1/2, 54 1/4)" bust/chest circumference. Sweater shown measures 48".
Yarn: Tahki Yarns Kerry (50% wool, 50% alpaca; 90 yd [82 m]/50 g): #5032 dark moss green (MC), 8 (9, 9, 10, 11) skeins; #5006 light green tweed (CC), 1 skein.
Yarn weight: #4 - Medium
Gauge: 14 sts and 20 rows = 4" in St st worked in the rnd on larger needle; 17 sts and 22 rnds = 4" in 2-color stranded St st worked in the rnd on larger needle.
Needles: Sizes 7 (4.5 mm) and 9 (5.5 mm): 24" circular (cir) and straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
