A ring of crocheted medallions form the lacy yoke in this matte silk-tweed pullover. Stitches are picked up from the crocheted ring, then worked in the round to the lower edges, which are finished off with a crocheted edging. Instructions for all of the crochet stitches are provided in the Glossary.
Finished Size: 36 (40 1/2, 45, 49 1/2)" (91.5 [103, 114.5, 125.5] cm) bust/chest circumference. Sweater shown measures 40 1/2" (103 cm).
Yarn: Reynolds Mandalay (100% silk; 98 yd [89 m]/50 g): #12 garnet, 8 (9, 11, 13) skeins. Yarn distributed by JCA, Inc.
Yarn weight: #4 - Medium
Gauge: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st on larger needles. One crochet motif measures 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) in diameter.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm): 24" (60-cm) circular (cir). Size 7 (4.5 mm): 24" (60-cm) cir and set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Size G/6 (4.25-mm) crochet hook (adjust hook size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge); markers (m); tapestry needle.
