A classic Donegal-style tweed knitted in a structured shape makes this bedjacket tailored and outerwear-like. Bell sleeves, a peplum, and a dramatic shawl collar soften the shape. The designer adds a textured self-belt that pops in a strong singles yarn.
Finished Size: 37 1/2 (40, 42 1/2, 45, 47)" bust circumference, buttoned. Sweater shown measures 37 1/2". About 2" positive ease is recommended for this project.
Yarn: Tahki Donegal Tweed (100% wool; 183 yd [167 m]/100 g): #804 purple, 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) skeins.
Yarn weight: #4 - Medium
Gauge: 20 sts and 38 rows = 4" in charted chevron patt; 15 sts of cabled band measure about 2 1/2" wide; 19 sts and 25 1/2 rows = 4" in ribbed patt of peplum and cuffs after blocking so p2 columns appear about 1 st wide.
Needles: Size 8 (5 mm): 32" circular (cir); 2 double-pointed needles (dpn) one size smaller than main needle for I-cord. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Cable needle (cn); markers (m); stitch holders; one 1 1/4" button; one snap closure (optional; see final note in Finishing section).
