This vest is knitted in panels and assembled with exposed seams for a structured look. Ribbing nips in the waist without complicated shaping, while a swirling ruffle is nothing more than a long seperate panel gathered to fit the edges of the piece. Two yarns in the same colorway give opposing weights and drapes to the body and ruffle.
Finished Size: 15 (20, 23)" back width. Vest shown measures 15", modeled with slight negative ease.
Yarn: Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca DK (100% baby alpaca; 255 yd [233 m]/31⁄2 oz [100 g]): #7495 wasabi (MC), 3 (4, 5) skeins. Shibui Knits Silk Cloud (60% kid mohair, 40% silk; 330 yd [302 m]/7⁄8 oz [25 g]): #7495 wasabi (CC), 1 (2, 2) skein(s).
Yarn Weight: #3 - Light
Needles: Size 9 (5.5 mm): 24" circular (cir). Size 8 (5 mm): 40" cir. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Marker (m); size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook; tapestry needle; pins.
Gauge: 19 sts and 24 rows = 4" in St st with MC on larger needle; 20 sts and 24 rows = 4" in k2, p2 rib with MC on larger needle.
