Cloth Paper Scissors
Editor Jenn Mason guides you through the principles of backgrounds, middle grounds, and foregrounds as they relate to mixing monoprints and collage. First you’ll learn how to make quick and easy backgrounds using acrylic and gelatin printing plates with a large array of texture tools, stencils, and hand-cut masks. Next you’ll work on the middle ground as you start to build the story of your art by adding collage elements and image transfers. Finally you’ll add the finishing touches to your art with the addition of the foreground, which includes all sorts of drawing, sketching, and stitching. Learn tips for successful printmaking sessions, including how working in a series will strengthen your work, how to lengthen your working time, and how to print in layers. This DVD contains many useful techniques that you can immediately start working into your own art.

Really good, but... Review by Katherine Yurek

I thought this video was very informative, the instructor is well spoken and easy to follow. The only issue I have is that the description of the class is not clear enough. I thought this class would provide equal amounts of instruction for each of the 3 layers. Instead, the first 45 minutes of the video is about monoprint and gelatin print process, then the last 15 minutes is the other two steps. I am not interested in gelatin printing, so I probably wouldn't have selected this class had I known that would be the majority of the instruction. But if that's what you're in to, you will really like the video.

LOVED it! Review by Hedwig Schlotjes -Belle

This workshop (as most CPS workshops are!) is chockfull of ideas and handy dandy tips. I enjoyed it a lot AND already did a series on mono printing and gelatin printing. I cannot think of spending better 15 dollars ;-))
