Inspired by an oak tree she loved as a child, stranded colorwork expert SpillyJane designed these top-down socks for men and women.
Details
Finished Size: About 8 (10¼)" (20.5 [26] cm) foot circumference. Foot length is adjustable. Sock shown here measures 8" (20.5 cm) in foot circumference. To fit shoe sizes women’s U.S. 8 (women’s U.S. 10 or men’s U.S. 8½). 
Yarn: Fingering weight (Super fine #1) or Sportweight (Fine #2). Shown here: Smaller socks: Louet Gems Fingering Weight (100% merino wool) See pattern for complete yarn listing. 
Yarn Weight: #1 - Super Fine 
Needles: Smaller socks: Size 1 (2.25 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Larger socks: Size 2 (2.75 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge 
Notions: Markers (m); waste yarn for holders; tapestry needle. 
Gauge: Smaller socks: 18 and 24 rnds = 2" (5 cm) in solid color St st. Larger socks: 14 sts and 20 rnds 2" (5 cm)
