Chenille, wool felt, and corduroy are stitched together to create a pair of richly textured softies with freestyle stitching on their round bellies. A simple fold, stitch, and clip technique creates fun felt loops around the handstitched eyes.

Finished Size:  Large Owl: 11" high × 11 1 ⁄2" wide (28 × 29 cm). Small Owl: 9" high × 8 ½" wide (23 × 21.5 cm). 

Fabric Requirements:

Refer to Notes for further information about fabrics. Note that if making both owls, ¼ yd (23 cm) of fabric C is sufficient for both.

Large Owl:

— 12" × 12" (30.5 × 30.5 cm) square of printed cotton (a; shown: gold cotton branch design)

— 12" × 12" (30.5 × 30.5 cm) square of chenille (b; shown: white)

—1/4 yd (23 cm) of corduroy (C; shown: white)

— 6 1/2" × 6 1/2" (16.5 × 16.5 cm) square of wool felt (d; shown: white)

18 yd (11.5 cm) each of three colors of wool felt (E, F, and G; shown: blue, gray, and straw)

— 1" × 2" (2.5 × 5 cm) scrap of wool felt (H; shown: off-white)

Small Owl:

— 10" × 10" (25.5 × 25.5 cm) square of printed cotton (a; shown: multicolored dots on blue)

— 10" × 10" (25.5 × 25.5 cm) square of chenille (b; shown: white)

18 yd (11.5 cm) of corduroy (C; shown: white)

— 5" × 5" (12.5 × 12.5 cm) square of wool felt (d; shown: beige)
