In this issue there are many artists who obviously love to experiment with new techniques. Christine Fries, our spotlight artist, just began quilting four years ago, and while raising her six boys, had devoted valuable time to experiment and perfecting her art. Phil Jones, our artist in profile, has combined his love of silk paper making and art quilting to create a breathtaking series of work. There are a host of art doll artists who explore alternative techniques and pose interesting ideas with their dolls. And one artist in particular, Susie Williams, has discovered that through crazy quilting she has found her true voice. We could go on and one about the wonderful group of artists, quilts, and art dolls that have joined us for this issue, but in short, there were so many pieces that came through our doors that we decided to expand Quilting Arts Magazine by eight or more pages to make sure we cuold include most of them. Enjoy!
