There is an old saying that red and green should never be seen together, but this lime-green and red fruit-embellished tea towel and apron set is sure to make you want to combine them. Using store-bought tea towels as the base fabric simplifies the project, and the vivid applique details and handstitching will brighten any kitchen.

— Three 19 1/4" × 27 1/2" (49 × 70 cm) tea towels (Main; shown: white waffle weave) or 12⁄3 yd (1.2 m) of 45" (114.5 cm) wide cotton towelling fabric
— 1 fat eighth each of 2 different colors of tonal or solid fabric (A and B; shown: deep orange and red)
— 1 fat eighth of print fabric (C; shown: green and white)
— 1 fat quarter plus an 8" (20.5 cm) square or 3/4 yd (69 cm) of print fabric (D; shown: green and yellow)
— 8" (20.5 cm) square of tonal or solid fabric (E; shown: green)
— 5" (12.5 cm) square of print fabric (F; shown: red and white)
