Designed for handpainted or solid yarns, this top-down sock pattern features a flap heel and slipped-stitch design to avoid color pooling.
Finished Size: About 8. (9.)" (21.5 [24] cm) foot circumference 9. (10)" (23.5 [25.5] cm) from back of heel to tip of toe. Leg and foot lengths are adjustable. Socks shown measure 8." (21 cm) foot circumference. To fit women’s U.S. shoe sizes 6 to 8 (8 to 10). 
Yarn: Fingering weight (Super fine #1). Shown here: Claudia Hand Painted Yarns Fingering (100% merino wool; 175 yd [160 m]/50 g): crushed velvet (semisolid) or purple earth (variegated), 3 (4) skeins. 
Yarn Weight: #1 - Super Fine 
Needles: Size 1 (2.25 mm): Set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. 
Notions: Marker (m); tapestry needle. 
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rnds = 2" (5 cm) in St st; 151⁄4 sts and 26 rnds = 2" (5 cm) in Crisscross patterns.
