This is the perfect project to complete as you transition from winter to spring. Inspired by garden perennials and a love for mixing prints, the quilt features easy blanket-stitch appliqué on a hemp background on the front and a fun patchwork back.

Fabric Requirements:

Choose fabrics in the colors indicated below for a look similar to the sample quilt or use your preferred colors. Label each fabric with the indicated letter for identification in the instructions and diagrams.

— 118 yd (1 m) of medium-weight solid natural fiber fabric, such as hemp, linen, cotton, or a blend of these for background (shown: off-white)

— ¾ yd (68.5 cm) of solid, tonal, or smallscale printed green fabric for grass and flower stems (A)

13 yd (30.5 cm) of solid, tonal, or smallscale printed brown fabric for flower cones and binding (B)

— 18" × 21" (45.5 × 53.5 cm) each of 8 different printed cotton fabrics (C; shown: various prints in blues, red/oranges, and yellows) for appliquéd coneflower petals, patchwork border on front, and patchwork backing

— ½ yd (46 cm) each of 2 different printed cotton fabrics (D) for appliquéd coneflower petals, patchwork border on front, and patchwork backing

— 40" × 40" (101.5 × 101.5 cm) piece of natural-fiber quilt batting (recommended: 50/50 bamboo/cotton blend)
