Best beginner's book & video, NOT just about soldering! Review by Alice

I've read several supposedly beginner's books about metalsmithing. This one has me inspired and confident. First, the book itself goes into the detail I needed to understand all the pieces of basic metalsmithing, and the projects support each part of learning. Second, the video shows what photos in a book cannot: the actual movements of hands and tools, the way the torch flame should look, etc. The combination leaves me with very few questions, and thus surpasses any other book and/or video I've seen yet. And Kate if a fabulous teacher, very down-to-earth, very knowledgeable.
I highly recommend this book/video to anyone who is trying to understand the basics of soldering and cold connections without spending hundreds of dollars on an in-person class.
