Upcycle old buttons into stylish pendants with this riveting technique. Practice texturing and cold connection technique in this mixed metal showpiece design. Easily make this your own by using multiple pendants for a funky design, or a single pendant for a knockout necklace.
Required Materials:
  • 30-40 vintage or new metal buttons of various sizes from .5"" to 1.5""
  • 1 ft of 12 gauge copper wire for rivets
  • 5-7 copper or brass jump rings, 8-10mm in diameter, in 14-16ga wire
  • ½ cup of bleach
  • 1 or 2 small coins (optional)
  • A vintage chain with large links (or make your own)
HAND: Claw, ball peen, chasing or texturing hammers; riveting hammer, flush cutters, center punch, small anvil or bench block, vise, chain nose pliers
EQUIPMENT: Drill press with 2mm drill bit
LAYOUT: Thin Sharpie or scribe
SAFETY: Goggles
