What's an eMag?

Sockupied is your opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of sock knitting through a variety of media, right on your computer screen. Videos and interactive galleries are just some of the experiences that set Sockupied apart from printed magazines and books. Settle in with your favorite knitting needles, see profiles of sock knitters, and be in control of galleries with a click of a button.

With an easy-to-download format that includes galleries, tips and techniques, informative articles, designer profiles, and more, this new eMag will satisfy your sock knitting fix like never before.

Sockupied Fall 2014 features top-notch tips and techniques for sock knitters. Learn a tried and true method to make your socks last longer, visit with Lucy Neatby and take a walk through her design process, and adapt a vintage sock pattern for a modern shape.

Plus, the Fall 2014 Sockupied also includes 6 new sock patterns:
  • Enduring Socks: This simple top-down knitted sock is designed by Kate Atherley to be super long-wearing.
  • Lida Rose Socks: Anne Podlesak's top-down sock features slipped stitches and is shown in both solid and variegated yarns.
  • True North DK Socks: Lucy Neatby's colorful double-knitted, lush, reversible, top-down socks for cozy feet all year long.
  • Daisy Field Socks: A simple cluster of stitches, knit this variegated, top-down sock designed by Maria Leigh.
  • Time Traveler: This toe-up, vintage-inspired sock by Jennifer Raymond is super feminine and perfect dainty feet.
  • Thyme Marches On: These top-down socks by Laura Crowley feature lace and twisted stitches.

Q: What software do I need to view this Sockupied eMag?

A: Sockupied for the PC and MAC desktops requires a simple software application called Adobe® Air® that’s easy to use and can be installed on your computer for free. Sockupied includes articles, videos, galleries, hyperlinks to inspiring and informative websites, and so much more. With just the click of your mouse, you can open and play videos, view slideshows, and easily navigate through the eMag.

Q: How is Sockupied different than the digital edition of Interweave Knits Magazine?

A: Sockupied is an entirely unique product, separate from Interweave Knits and Knitscene magazines. This eMag focuses solely on sock knitting. Unlike digital editions of Interweave Knits and Knitscene magazines, which are exact replications of the print editions, Sockupied was developed as a digital product so it can capitalize on all the benefits of digital media capabilities—including videos, slideshows, zoom options that enable you to see close-ups of knitted socks, patterns that can be downloaded and printed, abilities to hyperlink to websites, and more.

Q: Will Sockupied be available as a print magazine?

A: Sockupied was built as a digital product, therefore it will not be printed as a traditional magazine. However, we hope you take advantage of the many printable materials included in Sockupied.

Q: Is Sockupied available as a subscription?

A: Sockupied is considered a special digital publication and is not available for a subscription. Each Sockupied eMag is a single issue and available as a single download.

Q: Does Sockupied mean that Interweave Knits or Knitscene magazines will stop printing?

A: Absolutely not! Interweave Knits and Knitscene print and digital magazines are entirely separate offerings to the knitting craft world. Interweave Knits is still our flagship publication and we have exciting issues of this and other knitting magazines to come!

Great on-the-go app Review by ZoeOB

When purchasing, you need to make sure you are buying the correct edition. I like to read Sockupied on my iPad so I order it through the app - not the Interweave site. Those versions will only work on your desktop or laptop. The patterns are quite varied and it's great to have technique videos available as well. The only thing that would make it better was a subscription otherwise you have to keep an eye out for the next edition.

Content excellent but downloads still a problem Review by Martha
Rating

Love the content and concept of Sockupied. However...and it is a significant however, downloads are still a problem. I want to download to my IPad, particularly since it is a sock offering and socks are On the Road knitting projects. I cannot download to my iPad from the interweave site. For fall 2014 issue I ended up ordering twice, paying double the price for what is for me one workable issue. The successful download was through my I store...not through Interweave directly.
