Description

The sweet silver bird you see in this piece is actually the clever toggle half of a clasp that is positioned asymmetrically on one side of the necklace. The size and count of the beads on both sides of the necklace are equal, yet the bird does not throw off the balance in favor of the side it's perched on.

Here's why: The yellow opal nuggets on one side of the necklace are lighter in color and command less attention than the peach moonstone nuggets on the other side. So the bird toggle adds the extra visual weight the yellow side needs to balance the peach side. Placing the clasp on the side of the necklace actually makes it easier to fasten and unfasten as well.
