The Practical Spinner's Guide: Cotton, Flax, HempBy Stephenie Gaustad
Cotton, flax, and hemp behave very differently from wool, and special handling is required. She also covers finishing yarns—cleaning, setting twist, and plying—and even touches on what dye processes are best for adding color. Finally, she includes a discussion of spinning for both knitting and weaving, covering fabric properties of each fiber, and what the spinner needs to take into account while creating the yarn and using it in a subsequent project.

As soon as the collection arrived, I read Stephenie Gaustad's book, The Practical Spinner's Guide, Cotton, Flax, Hemp", cover-to-cover. I learned a great deal more about spinning plant fibers, especially flax and hemp, than I knew before. It made me want to adjust one of my wheels and get busy. I am looking forward to viewing Norman Kennedy's DVD and getting even more tips.
