Haapsalu, a small resort town on the west coast of Estonia, is famous for its 13th-century castle ruins, curative mud baths, and the legend of the White Lady. About the same amount of recognition has been brought to Haapsalu by its hand-knit lacy scarves and shawls. The skill has been handed down from mother to daughter, from one master knitter to another for one and a half centuries.

The Haapsalu Shawl: A Knitted Lace Tradition from Estonia has captured the secrets of the Haapsalu shawl with the history of Estonian lace knitting, clear instructions for knitting the shawls, and more than 100 beautiful lace patterns!

The Haapsula Shawl: A Knitted Lace Tradition from Estonia Review by Michele Weisberg

I love this book!! I have been a lace knitter for many years, but not an expert by any means! I read this book like a novel over and over again. I have not started a project yet because my "need to finish" basket is full and I don't want to start something new and then need to put it aside. This book is a great addition to any knitters collection.
