Fantastic dVD Review by Theresa

I Learned so much from this DVD. Ms. McKenzie has a very calming mannerism which makes listening to her an enjoyable experience. She is a very knowledgeable textile expert and fantastic teacher. When I see something published by her in my field of interest, it's an automatic purchase because she doesn't produce junk. If you've wanted to buy a fleece and didn't know where to start, I would suggest this is a perfect beginning.

Better editing Review by Bet

I really wanted to like this. I've taken classes from Judith and she is fantastic, but this video could have been so much better.

The camera work could have illustrated better what Judith was talking about, for example when evaluating raw fleeces. Closeups that lingered, instead of a quick glimpse, or none at all. When spinning, closeups often missed the part spinners really care about -- the hands.

Several anecdotes and pieces of advice were repeated, and in real life we all do that over days and weeks, but in a video that is watched in a short time frame it became annoying.

Judith has so much to offer. Let's have a better production that reflects that.

Inspiring Review by Cat

I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD (I actually got the download version), and loved it! I'm new to spinning and have never lived with sheep, so I can't comment on accuracy as another reviewer has, but Judith's quiet enthusiasm is contagious. I loved the part in the first section where she's wandering around the pavilion with all the sheep yelling - I love those sounds.

In the second part, Judith quietly and systematically discusses sorting, cleaning and storing fleece. Then she sits at a wheel and does some spinning. Throughout it all she carries on a conversation spanning decades of experience - I felt like I was there having a coffee and chat. I've since bought several more DVDs, and love listening to her talk. And it's wonderful to watch her quiet spinning.

Sorry, but is not a good dvd. Review by SC

There may be some spinners information in here, but the glaring errors of factual information about sheep that are contained made it hard for me to watch! The explanation of breaks in the wool was of particular concern- they were waaay off! I appreciate the fact that she showed some rarer sheep breeds, that was good, but when producing an educational dvd, the facts contained therein need to be correct! Sorry (and this is my first ever negative review!) but it wasn't a good dvd. :(
