The designer dissected a couple of her husband's silk neckties to devise the quintessential pattern for two knitted versions - one with squared ends, the other with the more familiar points. Both styles are knitted flat on two needles, then folded and seamed along the center back. Once you understand the flow of the basic patterns, it's a small matter to add a little color or texture.
