very useful, practical information Review by Kathleen
Rating

I have woven rugs for my own use, but I want to weave a rug as a gift now, so results are important. After watching Tom's video, I feel confident that I will be able to weave a well-planned and well-executed rug using what I have learned. For example, when weaving a rag rug, choose fabric that has deep color on both sides to avoid the need to carefully fold in and hide the pale side. Seems obvious now, but I didn't do this in the past. The video was very well filmed allowing good views of what Tom was doing as he wove. As a bonus, seeing the rugs in the video gave me design ideas. I considered giving this video 4 stars because there was not a lot of information about other options. For example, I usually use bed sheets purchased at the thrift store for my fabric, not new fabric. I did not hear this option mentioned. But I do recommend the video to anyone who wants to weave rugs. I learned a lot.

A Wealth of Information Review by Darlene

I buy a lot of DVD's for spinning and weaving, but this video by far is the best. Tom goes virtually every aspect of rug weaving from the types of weave structures, to weaving materials and equipment, to finishing techniques with a teaching method that is relaxed and easy to understand. The information contained in this book is complete so if you are a new weaver you will be able to plan and weave your first rug after watching this video, if you are an experienced weaver you will learn about a couple of new tips, tools and techniques that are ingenious. And hats off to Interweave, for the production of this product was very good with excellent close ups so you can see what he is doing. I liked this video so much I immediately got online and sprung for his other video "The Loom Owners Companion". I hope you are working on a book, or another video....you are terrific.
