Description

Heavy ironwork meets delicate filigree! Get a collection of 20+ beautiful wire projects and learn exciting techniques for endless possibilities.

Inspired by the ironwork so prevalent in her native Tucson, Jodi Bombardier fashions her signature heavy gauge wire frames into sinuous shapes, cold-joining them with fine wire to form open, lacy filigree patterns.

Jodi focuses on technique, including the correct ways to use tools, hold wire, and create shaped wire frames consistently and precisely. She teaches how to create airy pieces that are still strong and stable enough to withstand daily wear. The projects increase in complexity as the eBook progresses and the reader builds confidence in filigree.

In addition to providing project instructions, Jodi demonstrates how scrolled designs can be manipulated, joined, or rearranged to create endless variations hampered only by the imagination.

Look Closer Review by Nan

I ordered this book and at first glance had planned to send it back. Like the author, I've spent hours looking at and photographing wrought ironwork, mostly in New Orleans. Ive been using those old photos and images online the last 6 months (and a ton of graph paper) putting pieces and parts together. I picked the book back up and Jodi's very descriptive technique explanations caught my eye. Completing one if her projects using bail pliers, instead of my favorite 6 step pliers I had been using, made my work easier, cleaner and quicker. I'm so glad I took that second glance.
Great Book Jodi

Perhaps because I have done filigree before, I found the diagrams and directions helpful. My only wish was for a few more "modern" designs.

Disappointing Review by Marlene

I truly enjoy instructional craft books and own quite a few. From these books I've learned new techniques in beading, knitting and crocheting, my three favorite crafts. I'd never met a book I didn't like or couldn't find something beautiful and useful in, until this one.
I'm fairly new to wire work, though not a complete novice, but this book confused and frustrated me. The bulk of the instructions are written verbally, with accompanying illustrations rather than photos. The illustrations are not god enough to convey the meaning of the author's instructions and consist mainly of drawings of items as they should look after you've finished them. Photos can show depth and direction, showing you how to hold the wire, where to hold it, the direction it needs to be turned, etc., but the included illustrations don't so much as employ directional arrows, and don't show depth or detail.
The designs are lovely, the author is very talented at creating beautiful jewelry, and I wish she and her publisher were half as capable at providing clear and concise instructions. I would advise you not to spend your money here as there are many other and better books to learn from.
